Did someone say run Windows software on a Mac? I heard run Windows software on a Mac. There have been many attempts to run CAW on Mac; none (to my knowledge) worked.
The furthest I ever got was the CAW start screen. If Crossover is anything like WINEbottler (note:Crossover is a type of WINE), it should be possible to install TS3 using it.
I suggest looking at this thread, specifically, posts 15, 17, 20, 27, and 28: Aeschere: If you happen to have a Windows install disk lying around (XP, 7, or, if you hate your computer, Vista), enough memory on your Mac (not sure about using an external drive.), and the ability to follow tutorials on the internet, I would suggest installing Windows on your Mac using Bootcamp, Virtualbox, Parallels or VMware. I've never set a VM before, but I have used Macs running Windows to run Windows programs, and had waaaayyyyyy fewer problems than with WINE. Mind you, using a VM will be slower than running it on a similar Windows machine. NOTE: a lot of Windows computers come with a Windows install disk. If you had an old computer that ran Windows, you might want to go through your CDs.
You might be able to use said disk to do an install on a Mac. Also, use Google to find out how to set up the VM. Crossovergames trying but ugg! Hello, I tried crossover some 4 months ago.

Sales/support didn't really know what I should do. I just tried again with a trial version of crossover games, and am unclear if to put both the base game and CaW in the same bottle or different bottles.
Their help page tells me to make a link for dependant apps, but the popups wont let me do that, and I get a popup asking if I want to delete the app.not really, it took a long time to load sims 3. So the program is all very confusing, at least to someone like me that gave up windows a long time ago. Wish someone knew how to get CaW to run. Thanks for the forum here, there is alot of good info in modthesims.
I used Crossover with CAW but I had to install the The Sims 3 on the Windows partition. I since deleted the program because I would have to install all of my games to get all the worlds I want. It worked for me, I just didn't want to install my games again on the Crossover Windows pane because it was taking up space.
I wish there was a way for me to run it in Crossover with it connecting to my already installed game on my mac. Fyi I installed Windows XP on Crossover and I have a Macbook Pro leopard.
This time I'm having problems porting on my (new!) MacBook Pro. I used a tutorial nismology gave me last year in for Wineskin which worked fine.except that I get a message telling me I need a valid copy of The Sims 3 to run it or just a simple 'access denied'. I do have a valid copy of The Sims - I play it all the time! It's a Mac copy, so I don't even have to run it through a port or an emulator or whatever it is you do for other stuff. So why am I getting this message?
I even downloaded the CAW program directly from EA's site after I got the same message with a torrent. Any way to fix this?
